About me

Madlen (cultural scientist/singer/songwriter) has been collecting repertoire from Bulgaria, Macedonia, Finland and Georgia for many years and performs solo and with various ensembles throughout Europe (Madlen Strange, Hai La Hora Orchestra, Bulgarian Voices Berlin, Gurgulitza, Duo Stange & Glucksmann).

Through her research trips she has studied folklore vocal technique from Katya Barulova (conductor Bulgarian Voices Angelite), Neli Andreeva (Malka Moma - Soundtrack Hummingbird) and organized various workshops.

Shortly before the lockdown in March 2020, she performed her original songs in front of an audience for the first time with the Semi-Pseudo "Madlen StRange". Since then she has given solo concerts in France (Le Puy en Velay) and Brandenburg (Hausseekonzerte Feldberg, Liederfestival Thomsdorf) as well as online (Dringeblieben.de, Artivisten e.V.). Playful and melancholic, but always with the urge to discover new things, she accompanies herself with guitar, ukulele, shruti box or looper and sings in English, French, German or Bulgarien. Her music sounds like a journey to unknown places and emotions and whatever she finds there, she lets it shine like a hidden treasure for a moment.
